We called Naomi (she's wonderful!), and she told us this was an actual comment from a kid, a non-writer who handed this poem to her in class one day. It was a big moment... something intimate he shared with her through writing. It was a huge victory. The teacher positioned him as a failure, but this brought another perspective....
